Synopsis

“Words From A Wanderer is a timeless and beautiful compilation of notes and poetry. This book was created with hopes of uplifting and encouraging readers in many ways. There is a journal in the back of the book for readers and fellow writers to indulge in to keep the “conversation” going. Author, Alexandra Elle, wrote this book to shed light on the fact that indeed not all who wander are lost; some are simply still finding their way.”

Review

I’ve been following Alex Elle since she first began her blog “The Good Hair Blog.” Around the same time I shaved my own hair and was an avid reader. I’ve bought hair products and accessories from her previously and I’m always “liking” her notes on Instagram and Tumblr. It was only right of me to also purchase her book. I’ve always liked to support fellow artists and this one in particular has been a big inspiration to me.

Anyway, I suppose I should start the review.

When I first opened “Words From A Wanderer” I noticed that it had an interesting format. It alternates from poems to notes and back again. Most of the pages have little illustrations on them that are relevant to the words they accompany. I really liked it because it gives a fun look to the book.

For the last few months, I’ve been going through some rough times emotionally and this book helped me more than I expected.  It is full of words of encouragement, notes about self-esteem, and poems about love. It covers everything from accepting yourself, flaws and all, to love to getting over heartbreak and learning to love again. Alex Elle truly has a way with words that is quite rare. Everything I have ever read of hers seems to radiate light. The lessons learned in this book were not easy to come by. Hearts were broken, tears were shed, but each obstacle, each struggle provided a bit more wisdom that had not been there previously.

I really don’t have anything bad to say about it. I enjoyed it immensely and I find myself going back to it often to reread a few of my favorite lines.

A couple of my  favorite lines:

“Perfection is not welcomed here; I’d like to see your flaws. The blueprint of your beauty makes me want to love them all…”

“Seasons change. People grow together and apart. Life moves on. You will be OK. Embrace it…”
